Really loved joining a church last Sunday, a church I drive past every time I head down to my local beach at Port Kembla.
But, for me, the highlight was to link in ministry with one of my greatest buddies for most of my life, Gordon Barr. He currently serves as minister at Port Kembla Baptist.
Only 3 months before, I had attended to support another of my closest friends Mike Lord as he launched the incredible story of his life on DVD.
The previous night, at my parents church where I had grown up, many more 'lifelong' companions shared in a similar event.
It was easy ... enjoyable ... and exhilarating to stand side by side for the cause of the Gospel.
I guess, knowing you have friends that know you for 'who you are' ... the good and the bad ... have seen you go through the highs and lows of life's journey ... is an incredible encouragement and incentive to 'keep going'
We're all not as young as we once were ... all in our 50's (some early 60's) ... but when we share of the memories we have, its as if it were only yesterday.
The Bible says, "There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24) A true friend is one God's greatest gifts!
Thanks for your ongoing prayers as Amanda and I continue to serve Jesus out on the road.
